Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Still your mind, open your body, free your heart
Yoga is for Every Body
You don’t have to be flexible to do yoga. As one of my teacher’s used to say, some of us are blessed with stiffness, and some are cursed with flexibility. Everybody can begin yoga: as long as you can breathe, you can do yoga. We each have to start with what we have got. Over time, with dedicated practice, you will gradually begin to unite the knots that restrict you.
Vinyasa Flow is a dynamic practice, drawing on different styles, incorporating many fundamental postures of Hatha yoga. I draw on my experience of the practices of Astanga, Anusara, Iyengar, Shadow and Yin Yoga to create these classes.
The Vinyasa Flow practice focuses on the synchronization of breath and movement. We move through a gradually building series of vinyasas (flowing with the breath), allowing the body to open slowly, gracefully, and precisely.
Each class has a slightly different focus or theme, and I offer options throughout to cater for all levels including beginners. I emphasize correct alignment, but also encourage students to honour their own level, cultivating an attitude of acceptance and compassion towards themselves, and building an awareness of their own unique body.
Students will develop strength and suppleness, but also a sense of mindfulness, of peace, space and presence.
